Google Ranking Retrieval Issue – Closed (Resolution Completed)

We tracked and responded to a major change by Google that affected all SEO tools worldwide. It was likely the most impactful update for SEO tools in the past decade.

The change required significant adjustments. Our team worked around the clock from the moment we identified it, implementing solutions until full functionality was restored.

  • All daily checks are functioning without issues, with the new adjustments fully adopted.

Tuesday, Sept 16 – 13:30 GMT

  • All system terms have already been checked up to the top 100 results today.
  • Regular daily updates, newly added terms, and Insta-Checks are fixed and working.
  • Checks may still be slower than usual — work is ongoing on speed improvements, resolving issues with specific term types, and implementing additional efficiency enhancements.

Monday, Sept 15 – 14:00 GMT

  • All new and on-demand checks are back online and successfully retrieving top 100 results.

Monday, Sept 15 – 0:00 GMT

  • Rankings in the top 20 continue to be captured normally.
  • Rankings beyond 20 are shown as “not ranked.”
  • A workaround for 20+ rankings is under development, with an initial solution expected later today or tomorrow.

Saturday, Sept 14

  • The rollout expanded to approximately 92% of searches, close to full adoption.
  • Continuous tests confirmed the issue requires major adjustments on our side.

Friday, Sept 13

  • Google rolled out the change to around 50% of searches.
  • We identified the issue quickly and immediately began investigating.
  • Work on solutions began the same day and continued through the weekend.

Thursday, Sept 11

  • Google began rolling out the change, impacting retrieval of rankings beyond the top 10.
